It was initially angering because in so many places, the response to my idea was "no one would be interested in this. The scene is essentially dead. There is no way to rally support."
The problem stems back many years, the Dreamcast community has always been fragmented for one reason or another, there are always small pockets of fans here and there, but now the community is even smaller it's easy for someone looking from the outside to see the scene as dead. I guess someone would really want to be a part of the community to even consider helping with any projects, and to be honest I do not think there are that many that can spare the time to help (or maybe they just cannot be bothered).

It's always a one man project, and everyone always wonders why nothing comes of it. With my second pass at this I've somewhat accepted that it will be a one man effort, and likely on a much smaller scale than I ever would like.
Sadly sometimes it does end up being a one man effort, but the way I look at it is like this: if just one person gets some pleasure out of something you have created then the effort was worth it. For every single person that likes something, there will be thousands of others who do not, but is that a reason to deprive that one person of simple pleasure.

If you don't think I'm too much of a dick by now, I'd like to be able to submit new designs to someone here so they can put them up, and a cover printing guide so people don't end up with an off size print on an 8.5x11 piece of paper that doesn't quite fit a DVD case.
I am sure the community would be grateful for any contribution, I am not sure how we will go about submissions though, I guess we could look into setting up an FTP account or something (if not good old email), I'll get back to you about that. A printing guide would be great, are you using just text or including pictures?. We only have a couple of guides in the gallery so far, perhaps something like these would work:
Tutorialssixtyten wrote on Jul 2nd, 2010, 2:38pm:I also compiled pretty extensive information on several commercial games, and might have some tutorials you guys don't (didn't browse around much, but I used to use love the stuff DCEvo put out back in 03 when I started), if there's an interest in that. I'd have to track down the files, but it wouldn't be too hard.
We are primarily an independent (homebrew) network, we had planned on doing something for a commercial section but the work on the indie stuff takes all our free time. Perhaps in the future we will incorporate a commercial game section within DCHelp. I will point out though that we do not want any warez on the sites (there's enough grey area material already), we are trying to keep the network as legal as possible, the line has been drawn for custom covers and scans, and we will not host or link to commercial games.

Apology accepted, I too would like to apologize for any problems caused by not contacting you almost two years ago when we first put the mirror album in the gallery. It certainly was not our intention to cause any problems, all we are trying to do is gather together all the contributions that have been made for the community (and maybe show a few people along the way that the scene is not dead after all).
sixtyten wrote on Jul 2nd, 2010, 2:38pm:I guess the simple version to explain myself is; "if they liked these, and thought they would be a great resource, why didn't they ask for my help?"
To be honest, back then we had just started to rebuild the sites from the ground up after being hacked, there was no real direction of where to go or what to do, and as you have found out it can be disappointing trying to rally support for yet another Dreamcast project. We decided to go it alone and try to build up a repository of all the fragmented community output, the gallery is just one part of the repository (and even that is far from being complete).
